Aylmer Wildlife Management Area

Located on 112 acres of Crown land, the Aylmer Wildlife Management Area (AWMA) offers a variety of outdoor activities including hunting, wildlife viewing, and environmental education. Visitors can enjoy the area’s distinct habitats, which include conifer/wildlife shrub hedgerows, old fields, shrub thickets, and croplands. It’s particularly popular for its waterfowl and shorebird viewing opportunities, with four viewing stands available for public use. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails, picnic tables, and portable washrooms during their visit.

The 80-acre fenced sanctuary is home to tallgrass prairies, a goose pasture, and 50 acres of provincially significant wetland ponds. These ponds and sloughs attract a wide range of wildlife, particularly during the spring and fall migrations. The area is best known for being a prime viewing location for Tundra Swans during their annual migration, typically in late February to March. This is a must-visit for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
